Welcome!

Thank you so much for stopping by. My name is Rebecca Baugniet, and I am a writer and librarian living on Canada’s West Coast. Things I love best: long walks in the forest, short dips in cold water, listening to my children laugh and hugging my husband.

In 2023, I found myself deep in the throes of a personal struggle, the likes of which I had not encountered before. I looked around and noticed how many other people around me also seemed to be grappling with intense adversity. Since then, I have been actively building my own mental health toolbox, so that I am well equipped to return to some stability in my wobbliest moments. I thought it might be nice to share that toolbox more widely, in case it might also be of some use to others. I would love to hear what you’ve got in your toolbox too.

One of my current favourites is reciting the Buddhist metta meditation so I will leave you with a line from it.

May you be at ease. May you be free from suffering.

Sending love,

Rebecca
